Economy


Kazakhstan is an industrial country. The main source of  economic growth  is oil and gas production, with volumes amounting to more than 80 million tons of oil and gas condensate a year. Kazakhstan is an exporter of metals and uranium.

Kazakhstan is reach for natural resource.  It ranks the first place by zinc and manganese reserves in the world, the 2nd place by silver and uranium. At present Kazakhstan is in the 6th place by gold reserves and in 9th place in the world with regard to confirmed reserves of oil.

The total reserves of the country's gold and foreign currencies, including the National Bank and the National Fund reserves has reached 64.7 billion USD in July 2016.

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Kazakhstan was worth 184.39 billion US dollars in 2015 (GDP figures for 2016 are not available).

External trade volume decreased by 29.9% in the period from January till May 2016 in comparison with the same period of 2015, and was equal to 23 billion USD.

The top exports of Kazakhstan are radioactive chemicals, petroleum gas, petroleum,  non-ferrous metal and wheat.

The top imports to Kazakhstan are manufactured goods, gas, machinery, fruits and vegetables.

The main trade partners of the country are European Union, China, Switzerland and Russia.

GDP per capita was worth  6,9 thousand USD per year in July, 2016.

Average salary amount  was equal to 143 650 tenge (435.3$) in July 2016.

 

Agriculture

Kazakhstan is among world’s top ten grain exporters and is one of the leaders in flour export. Farming is well-developed in the north - 70 % of arable lands are used for growing grain, technical crops and wheat. In the south of the country rice, cotton and tobacco are grown. Animal husbandry is the leading branch of the agriculture.
